EXPERIENCE COUNTS!!!
Who is Russell L. “Rusty” Trest?
I’m 54 years old and have lived in Southeast Texas my whole life. I currently live next door to where I grew up in Pine Ridge/Sour Lake, in a family owned and operated construction/dirt business.
I began my career as an equipment operator at the age of 10, loading dump trucks with a Trackhoe/Excavator. I’ve worked full time as a Heavy Equipment Operator for 36 years. If there is a road to be built, I will do my best to build it the right way! If there’s a drainage issue to be be resolved, I will work my hardest to resolve it!
I have been a public servant for the majority of my adult life. I have been a past President and active Member of The Sour Lake Lions Club for 26 years. I am a Christian with good morals, active in my church and have never smoked or drank in my whole life.
I’ve served as an Emergency Medical Technician and Volunteer Firefighter for 26 years. I have 25 years experience in Emergency Response Preparedness.
I am the current President of the Hardin County ESD (Emergency Services District) #5 Board. I have served as President for 7 years, was former Vice-President, and have been on the Board for 15 years.
As President of the Board, I have worked very hard preparing/approving a conservative, and beneficial budget for Hardin County ESD #5. I am responsible for a million dollar budget of tax payers’ money that has never ran over budget. I was instrumental in getting 2 paid full time EMS workers, and a paid full time firefighter added to the payroll, which has greatly reduced emergency response time.
I look forward to the opportunity to continue to be a public servant in a capacity that utilizes all my years of experience, knowledge and hard work! I intend to be an asset to Hardin County and address every issue and concern voiced by the citizens.
Better roads, improved drainage and a strong but conservative budget are just a few of the benefits I will bring to the table for Hardin County Precinct 3.
